Outer Banks Returns With Season Four
In April of 2020, shortly after the worldwide shutdown on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, Netflix dropped a binge-worthy show following a group of teens in Outer Banks, North Carolina on the hunt for gold. The series has since followed the rivals, the “Pogues” and “Kooks,” through feuds, federal crimes, and more treasure-hunting.
Although fans have associated this show with the summertime, the first half of season four was released on October 10, 2024, while the last five episodes dropped on November 7, after a captivating cliffhanger. The season in it’s entirety shapes out to feature the most tragic story-lines of the show.
In the first episode of the season, the writers depict the group of Pogues collecting their earnings from their season three treasure-hunting escapade, “El Dorado.” Although the money amounted to over one million dollars, they blew through it rather quickly, investing in a surf-shop, buying property, and as expected, betting the remainder on a dirt bike race. The group gets back into their investigative roots when they are commissioned to search for Blackbeard’s treasure. Numerous people in the Outer Banks scour the island searching for the fortune, and the search is expanded to the country of Morocco.
This season and season one are drastically different. Season one held onto a happy and hopeful vibe, while season four closes with the death of one of the most beloved protagonists. Shockingly, one of the main antagonists of the show, Rafe Cameron, also undergoes a redemption arc, reuniting with his sister, Sarah, and saving the Pogues.
Following the drop of season four, the creators of Outer Banks have confirmed a fifth and final season of the hit-series. Although this season is definitely a comeback from season three, which suffered low ratings, the events of the finale have brought dozens of fans to social media comments with the same remark, “no way am I watching season five now.”
