Anime Starter Pack

Anime is a Japanese style of television and film created by hand-drawn or computer art. I started watching anime when I was 10 years old and the first one I saw was Yu-GI-OH on Cartoon Network. I fell in love with anime right then and there have continued to feel that love ever since. I started to read Mangas, a Japanese style comic book, and watched the corresponding anime aftere. I am always asked,” What shows should I watch to start this Anime journey?” Well, I don’t have a long list of Anime, but I can give you my personal starter pack.

Here’s Five anime’s you should watch and why:

1: Naruto

Naruto is not fully accepted in his village because the nine-tails, the spirits of mystical foxes that originated from Chinese mythology, are trapped inside of him. He gets upset about how the village feels about him but it does not ruin his dream of being a Hokage, a prestigious title earned by the strongest ninja, and getting noticed in his village. In my opinion, this show is humorous, surprisingly touching, and the perfect anime to start with.

2: Hunter X Hunter

A 12-year-old boy named Gon wants to become a hunter like his father. Gon is a very kind-hearted boy that believes being a Hunter is the equivalent to helping others. Gon starts his exam to become a hunter but faces a life-changing event that in my eyes, teaches the true meaning of friendship, which is why it lands the number two spot.

3:Death-Note

Light, a teen genius, came across a notebook called Death-Note. After Light opens it, he is introduced, by a Shinigami, to the owner of the notebook, Ryuk, who explains to Light the rules of the notebook. Light’s life changed after he received the notebook. This show is full of suspense and perfect for someone who likes to be on the edge of their seat.

4: Inuyasha

Kagome was cursed with a Shikon jewel inside of her, but the demons are after the Shikon jewel. The demons attack her and shatter the jewel. Kagome asks Inuyasha, a human/demon dog, to help find the missing jewels. This show is romantic and bursting with action.

5: Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions

In Togashi’s middle school days, he suffered from Chunibyo, Eighth Grader Syndrome, which caused his life to be flipped upside down. Togashi proclaimed himself the” Dark Flame Master.” When he started high school, he wanted to forget his delusion and be a normal kid, but that didn’t happen after he met a girl name, Rikka, who still has her Chunibyo. This show is funny, adorable, and perfect if you’re looking for something lighthearted.

I hope my starter pack inspires you to get into anime.  Comment on your experience of anime or if you have your own list!

Ode to Cats

I think I’ve created a name for myself among my friends. A reputation. A concept that comes up on my friends’ For You pages that they always share when they see it. I am a cat lady. No, don’t worry, I don’t have 15 cats (yet), but I do have one perfect angel child named […]

Killers Of The Flower Moon Is Phenomenal

Both phenomenal and absolutely devastating, Martin Scorsese’s (he/him) Killers Of The Flower Moon can only be describe as a stellar film. Of his other works, no other has the amount of bite as this one. Adapted from the book of a similar name, “Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders And The Birth Of […]

Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Video Game, The Movie

Since the announcement of the Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) movie in 2015, I have sat patiently waiting for the release. Now eight years later, Blumhouse Productions has finally delivered. I got dressed up (in costume obviously) and my roommates and I headed down to East Bridgewater Cinemas to see the long-awaited film. Besides hearing the Eras […]
