BSU TO BEGIN VISITING AUTHOR SERIES
The Department of English in conjunction with the Office of Academic Affairs and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is sponsoring the first event in the new Visiting Author Series.
Boston author, Andre Dubus III, will speak at Bridgewater State University on November 21, 2013. The event is being held in Conant Auditorium in the Science and Mathematics Center.

A Craft Talk and question and answer session for faculty, students, and staff will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by a reading and book signing at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
“This program was designed with students in mind,” said professor Bruce Machart. “There’s something mystifying about writing and we want to demystify that process for students.”
Marchart has been instrumental in forming this program. He describes this series as putting Bridgewater State on the “literary map.” Machart is a fiction writer and has been with the university for two and a half years.
“Grab a date, or a good friend, or even a parent if they’re close by… get dressed up a little bit and come see a form of entertainment that used to be prominent in American culture,” said Machart.
Dubus’ works in fiction and memoir his books have been Oprah Book Club picks, number one New York Times best sellers, and have inspired Oscar-nominated films. He will be reading excerpts of his work at the event.
